David Crandall — NAXSA

“There is no mystery about trench shoring and shielding — it protects dirt, it supports the dirt and there are different ways to do it. Things are less important and things are more important, but the most important thing is protecting somebody inside the trench in the excavation.”

The more difficult the excavation, the more thought you have to put into it prior to bid, not as a knee-jerk reaction. You have to put even more thought into it after you get the job and plan out your projects.

Trench shoring and shielding and safety are paramount because people can literally die inside the excavations if you do it wrong.

I have been on projects where soil will stand up 20 feet deep vertically — it happens. But, you still need to shore those excavations to protect against the what-if scenarios.
